Two Observations: (1) The foundations of grace that support and sustain the church in her times(s) of trial and suffering were laid in the wilderness during the temptation of the Lord Jesus and His victory over Satan. Because He stood we can stand. (2) All temptations and tests are under the sovereign control of God. As He ordained and directed all the events of Christ’s temptation so He also ordains and directs the times of our testing – Deuteronomy 8:2-3; James 1:2-4, 12-18.

In Isaiah 54:1 Isaiah writes, “Sing, O barren one, who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her who is married,” says the Lord. (ESV). What a glorious promise! But how will this be? Surely our great God will use his bride to accomplish His purpose in the earth (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 10:14-17).
