IDENTITY…Understanding Who You Are and Why it Matters to God
IDENTITY is the theme of this year’s Spring Retreat for our students.
The issue of Identity today is being questioned and challenged in our culture. Many students struggle during the formative years to navigate the various voices they are hearing; whether its pressure from friends, or the thoughts inside their head. It is imperative that we help our students think biblically! They must know who God has created them to be and for what purpose.
This year we have a special speaker, my friend Bro. Nick Lynch. Bro. Nick is a Ph.D student at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has a tremendous testimony of how he embraced the truth of Psalm 139, realizing he was ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ despite being born with physically challenges.
I am praying that God will use this weekend to really tackle some issues I see that students are dealing with. It is my desire that our students also use this opportunity to invite their friends. This year’s retreat, due to the subject matter, really has the potential for God to use to draw students to a deeper knowledge of Christ and change the way they feel about themselves.
The camp has miles of wooded trails, amazing rock formations, and incredible views of the Tennessee River. This will be a great place for concentrated time of instruction in God's Word and recreation activities including hiking, repelling, and challenging team-building activities.
We will leave the church on Friday, April 21st at 4PM and will return on Sunday afternoon, April 23rd at 4PM.
Cost is $100 per student ($200 max. per family); Guests are $75. Scholarships are also available, just notify me of your need. Please make your check payable to Providence Baptist Church/Memo:Youth Retreat and attach to your form and turn into church office by Sunday, April 9th.
